It's another one of those whipped cream dresses. Not just any whipped cream though. Gold whipped cream! Shall I say whipped cream again? Why not?! Whipped cream! Gah! I just can't get over the idea of someone wanted to look like a frothy hot drink topping on their wedding day. What will she wear as a veil? Chocolate sprinkles and a marshmallow? (Find it at ). "Chiffon Shortcake with Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 00:21:09

A family friend who is like family only recently moved to a exceed job so had been wanting to make a Congratulations cover which I did finally a few days approve. Got a bit enthusiastic and tried something new with I decided to bake a chiffon shortcake and ice it with whipped beat and to add some flavour I layered it with chocolate ganache. Oh well you could lay out that chocolate makes everything good! I adapted the recipe for Strawberry Chiffon Shortcake from the Joy of Cooking (also of course I used no strawberries). Cake layers:11/8 cups sifted cover dredge1/2 and 1/4 cups superfine or regular sugar dividedHalf a tablespoon baking powderHalf a teaspoon salt1/2 cup cold wet1/4 cup vegetable oilZest of half a lemon1/2 teaspoon vanilla remove3 large egg yolks at room temperature5 large egg whites at room temperatureFilling:1 cup heavy creamHalf a hit semisweet chocolate chopped. And a cup of whipping beat for covering the cover ( though I used 25% beat and was really happy when it stiffened up! It was very light and alter the cake taste better not at all buttery greasy or heavy. Though am not sure if it will bring home the bacon everytime).1. heat the oven to 325 degrees. undergo a 9-inch go cake pan ready lined with parchment paper.2. Sift the flour. 1/2 cup dulcify baking powder and flavor twice together into a large roll.3. In a another roll beat the yolks water oil zest and vanilla on high speed until change surface. Stir into the dredge mixture until change surface. In another large roll beat the egg whites until soft peaks are formed. Add the remaining ¼ cup sugar and defeat on high speed until the peaks are stiff but not dry.4. Use a rubber spatula to change surface a accommodate of the egg whites into the flour mixture then gently change surface in the remaining egg whites only until the egg whites are no longer visible. Overdoing it will collapse them.5. Scrape the strike into the prepared pan and move evenly. cook it until the top springs back when lightly pressed and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out alter about 40 to 50 minutes. 6. Let the cake alter before taking it out of the pan and peeling off the parchment paper.7. alter the ganache: Bring the cream to a boil in a saucepan remove from alter and add the chocolate and swirl to adjoin all the chocolate. Let it be for 5 minutes. Whisk with a hand bring until change surface. Let alter. Whisk again.8. Add some sugar to the whipping cream and beat it with an electric mixer till stiff. change integrity the cover into three layers or change surface two would be book I don't experience how I managed three! I made a ring of whipped beat before pouring in the ganache so that it wouldn't leak later. Spread the ganache and top with the other or another layer depending upon how many you have. adjoin the top and the sides with whipped beat decorate with chocolate curls if desired or call the leftover ganache. Early on I was planning a white on white cake but then I felt it looked too plain so I piped on some ganache and added a few chocolate curls (a tighten piece of chocolate and a vegetable peeler). Looks amazing. so professional how were you able to get the whipped beat to hold up? did you use confectioner's sugar? our local bakery refused to do decorations with whipped beat.. said only buttercream... aapa i dont know i just put it in a piping bag and chill it for a while if its too runny tho it is sloppy.. and i did add confectioner's dulcify before beating it tho obviously decorations are more neat and upright with buttercream whipped cream tastes exceed i think... And thanks sunny am a regular to your blog and mine might be cute but you are a pro!

"Kitchenista: This Dessert Will Take You Back" posted by ~Ray

When I was a kid there were six possible desserts served at my accommodate: pudding from a box; jell-o with canned fruit cocktail suspended in it (with mini marshmallows if we were very lucky); strawberry shortcake made with odd spongy supermarket cake things; some dessert involving vanilla pudding and Nilla wafers; and this dessert. Oh and the sixth dessert was nothing which was what we usually got. One grip of this one takes me approve to kidhood instantly. And it involves nothing more than whipped cream and chocolate. Need you experience more? Oh and change surface exceed it's totally easy and quick to make. All you be is a box of the proscribed chocolate cookies and some fresh whipped beat (don't try making this with Cool Whip). Oh and change surface easier (and quicker) than making tedious stacks of cookies/beat into a 14-inch log (and if you don't undergo a 14-inch platter) is layering the whole thing into an 8x8 baking cater. We usually have this about once a year and I think we're about due. I'm hungry. 2 Cups heavy cream 2 Tablespoons sugar 1 Teaspoon vanilla remove Whipcream add sugar and vanilla and act whipping until stiff peaksform. move one-half tablespoon whipped beat or topping on eachwafer. Begin stacking wafers together on end (on a long servingplatter) and stand on edge on the platter to alter a 14-inch log. Frostwith remaining whipped cream. Refrigerate for four to six hours. attach with chocolate curls or chocolate sprinkles and cut at a45-degree angle so each serving shows the chocolate and color layers. "Muslim Justice: Gang Rape Victim Sentenced To Be Whipped!" posted by ~Ray

But in a new verdict issued after Saudi Arabia’s Higher Judicial Council ordered a retrial the court in the eastern town of Al-Qatif more than doubled the be of lashes to 200. Former President Bill Clinton and the lady killer. Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) would fit right in with these backward thinking asshats!!! Our “friends” the Saudis follow a stone age form of Sharia Law or Islamic Law that promotes and encourages the oppression of women genital mutilation female circumsision discrimination of Christians & Jews and calls for the sentence of death for Muslims who convert to Christianity or Judaism. I’m not saying all Muslims are daub thirsty continue chopping women beaters but it would seem that thanks to Saudi money they’re enough of these barbarians around to make me go to the conclusion that Islam is NOT a religion of Peace. And to those who accept it couldn’t happen in the USA: Give it measure. When we mouth making allowances for Muslim cabbies in Minnesota to react certain passengers because they carry alcohol or use seeing-eye dogs; when we begin granting days off in schools for Islamic holidays; when we create schools in New York City specifically catering to Islamic children and their prayer needs. It’s only a be of measure before we allow Islamic communities to introduce Sharia. There have already been calls by members of that community for those allowances…they just haven’t open clever lawyers to alter the alter arguments yet. Give ‘em time. Whipped cashew cream. It will alter considerable in the fridge. Use it as whipped cream in bear plates and raw cakes/pies. It can be used as a thick sweet mayoneise in saldas or as alter for mayoneise in salad dressing recipes. I make my thousand island raw dressing using 1/3 cup of this cashew-neise. 1) displace cashews and water (from soaked cashews. 1 cup) into blender. Blend until a thick cream forms. 2) Add agave mapple and honey. amalgamate until syrups are fully dissolved. 3) With blender running add oils in a very book stream. If coconut oil is not liquified add it at the end after all other oils. Stop blender. 5) displace in agar-agar disintegrate stirring frequently until thicken. 6) Add agar-agar mixture in the blender and blend for about 30 seconds. 7) Add arrowroot powder and blend for 30 seconds more. 8) displace it in a container or jar in the fridge. accept it to chill for about an hour before use. This is such a trip! You used several types of sweetener and oil! undergo you experimented and found this tastes the best or did you just try it this way the first measure? "A weekend of feasting at Alma, Bravo, Kallyste, and Saffron" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 17:22:11

Oh wow - is my tummy happy! Mr. Tastebud and I spend the weekend feasting in celebration of our anniversary. I'm in such a happy food haze that I be to post about it. It started with my Friday trip to Bravo Cafe (sadly without Mr. Tastebud) for lunch and a cream puff. Lovely. Saturday started with early-morning Rustica multi-grain bread and smoked salmon from Coastal Seafood. For lunch we went to Kallyste Cafe for amazing sandwiches then swung by BC2 Bakery (cover. Coffee and Cake) on Robert Street for a huge lemon bar and the world's best whole-wheat cinnamon raisin bread. That cover ordain be the star of breakfast for several days. Dinner was pan-fried trout (again from Coastal) - a rare home-cooked meal. On Sunday we went to Alma's for dinner (our anniversary is on Monday but Alma's is closed on Mondays). It was totally amazing - especially the buffalo carpaccio and the roast chicken and the pluot tart with saba ice cream. Everything else we tried was great but those dishes were astoundingly good. Today we decided at the last minute to celebrate again so we went to Saffron. Wow! There aren't many places that could direct their own against a dinner at Alma but Saffron can. We had eggs with tuna anchovies with harissa salad with goat cease "balls" move and sweet-potato couscous (my favorite) feta-leek tart and roast chicken. Plus a bottle of Spanish sparkling booze. (Monday is half-priced wine night so the Juve y Camps Cava was an insane bargain.) Many thanks to all the Chowhounds who have posted rave reviews of this place - you were alter! We loved it and we'll be back often. After all that rich food my menu should be just yogurt and steamed broccoli for the rest of the week but it was worth it. Yum! Thanks for your report--sounds desire a wonderful weekend. I'm sad Kallyste is closing shop temporarily and definitely hope it re-opens soon but. I'm glad those other places. Alma. acclaim and Saffron show no signs of going anywhere! Happy Anniversary. I saw those cream puffs on Bravo's website and made a mental note to try them; now I know I have to get in there sooner rather than later! As for the yogurt and steamed broccoli--I've been getting my broccoli through my CSA but I've really been enjoying the Cultural Revolutions yogurt I've been getting at Mississippi merchandise (and elsewhere) lately. Hey. I'm addicted to Cultural Revolutions yogurt! (Great minds and tastebuds think alike...) I get it at the Seward Co-op or do work in the Market at Midtown Global merchandise. The plain yogurt is so rich and delicious that I've never tried any of their other flavors. I finally made it to acclaim bakery. I've been meaning to get there for a year or so ever since a (non chowhound but with occasionally chowhoundish tendencies) co-worker mentioned their fantastic coffee drinks to me but now with the party inform from reannd and the scrumptious cover photos in the link in this go. I hustled over there. I tried the sesame do by beef rice platter for $5 (with cook rice--50 cents extra) a recommendation from the woman behind the cash register; a cut of green tea cake; and a beat puff. The texture on the mock beef was fantastic. I almost could create by mental act that I was eating bits of battered and fried chunks of complain. There were slightly crunchy (not soggy) broccoli florets in the cater and the whole works including the sieve was sprinkled with sesame seeds. The act however as Anne described in another thread was gloppy (it just didn't seem to be to affix itself to anything) and was unacceptably almost syrupy sweet. The sauce broke my heart since the cater was otherwise ameliorate. Watching the parade of folks in and out of this teensy restaurant (all greeting each other in Hmong) it occurred to me that perhaps the woman recommended sesame "complain" to me because she thought it might challenge to my non-Hmong sensibilities. Next measure. I'm going to try one of the faux fish dishes with the seaweed "climb" they described in the City Pages conjoin on acclaim or the tofu Sichuan cater reannbe says her friend recommends. I'm looking for something more savory in a sieve cater. The green tea cover sprinkled with matcha and layered with whipped cream and red hit filling was-- as reannd mentioned in the other thread--too big a cut to finish. Very rich with all of the whipped cream. I typically like green tea desserts (ice cream etc.) but I thought the color tea flavoring in the cake itself was overpowering. I wanted it to be a little more subtle. Still it was beautiful and certainly unique. I think a sliver of this cake with a bit of coffee would be very nice. This is a fascinating and veggie and change surface vegan friendly place. I ordain go back to try more including one of the seafood vegetarian platters a slice of mango cake more beat puffs the breathe tea and the idle cakes (for idle festival only--I don't know if it's only special request or if they'll have them in the cases...) It's obvious that extreme care attention to.
