"Eva Longoria Goes Shopping" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-10 03:12:57

Just another day out and about for Eva Longoria. Here she is last Thursday shopping in Hollywood at the uber chic Harmony Lane Boutique. Those poor Californians seem to be suffering a bit of a winter heat wave and Eva dressed appropriately in a strapless white summer dress. It seemed her shop was a bit of a success too! Eva Left Harmony Lane with several shopping bags containing all of her wares. She sort of looks like me when I shop impatient and rushed. Though if I was spending time at Harmony Lane. I would certainly be taking my time. And is it just me or is the girl getting a little bonier!? But she’s still stunningly beautiful and has flawless skin. I wonder what facial scrub she uses… La Mer? <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong>

"Three Down, Many to Go" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 01:28:13

Not too long ago. I told you about my friend Chris Halleron who had begun a quest to rid his life of plastic shopping bags. I said back then that I would someday furnish it a try. Well yesterday was that day. I took my first trip to the supermarket with my own canvas bag in hand. That trip–along with a stop at the medicate hold on–has already saved me three bags. Of course I know I undergo a desire way to go but it feels good to be off to this go away. So why this desire to sack the plastic? come up the obvious is that I don't want my friends showing me up. Another is to acquire hold back over lost lay in my kitchen. Chris pointed out in his article that by not taking bags from the hold on he cleared up an entire kitchen cabinet. The other day I took a be around to see what my plastic population was. I was shocked to see that I easily undergo hundreds of these damned things. That discovery opened my eyes to a bigger fact. If my apartment is this clogged with plastic from me a single man shopping for just over three and a half years to what extend is the be of the world suffering? Well something like 500 billion of these plastic bags are used worldwide each year. A measly 1% of these are recycled and the be are tossed into landfills. Plenty also make their way into oceans lakes and rivers. Of cover we've all seen the rogue bags fluttering in trees or floating along the surface of our streets. Because these things are plastic they're not biodegradable and are quite literally choking the planet. But even before tossing them into the garbage we undergo to broach with another fact. Being a petroleum based product makes manufacturing these things a horrible drive on our ecosystem and resources as come up. So here is this little and unassuming bit of evil that is destroying our lives from beginning to end and for what? Convenience? Well carrying a canvas bag or two around is not all that inconvenient is it? Without further preaching on my part. I'll just say that this is obviously a very important air. If you would like to be move of the solution to this plastic nightmare you have a few choices. If you be to show the world how cool you are buy my spiffy new bag c'mon tell me ain't it spiffy? A book group called 'Bag the apparel' offers a bag that is lightweight durable made partly from recycled material and 100% recyclable. They say each bag holds up to 25 pounds but according to my friend Christine or Art House Productions they can handle more. Check them out at. Their proceeds give local artists in Jersey City. Another but not as desirable of choices would be to simply reuse the bags you undergo. Some of the larger supermarket chains furnish discounts if you reuse old bags. cover or plastic. Or you can just do desire Chris Halleron and wear cargo pants while carrying a large backpack. That way you're always prepared for an impromptu visit to market. Whatever choice you make if you're desire me you'll certainly find a use for all of the bags that are left. Like using them for holding your recycling on the align of the road. I know I have enough to last for many many recycling pickups to go.

"Shopping Bags Part 1/2: The Practice Of Paying For Plastic Bags" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-07 23:55:34

For this one I’ll have to skip the American readers for a bit as they’re not used to the practice I’ll be outlining in today’s post. (That doesn’t mean you can’t read this post though. gratify go ahead. You might hit the books a little bit about other countries.) We’re talking shopping bags today. You know those plastic (or paper) things you get from the checkout counter to stuff your shopping into in case your pockets aren’t deep enough. Yeah those things. In many countries and particular stores customers act this wonderful invention for granted. Why? Because they’re free that’s why. You experience what? They’re not always free. Dumbfounded? Allow me to explain. In many countries especially the United States customers are not used to paying for plastic bags. You get them free with your shopping from every store even grocery stores. You go to Walmart you expect to get that flimsy little plastic bag that’ll probably disunite in half if you have to carry it any advance than your car. You’d never pay for a bag like that would you? No? Good. The bags you have to pay for are a little different. Let me inform how things work in Finland as an example. Plastic bags in grocery stores in this winter wonderland cost between 0.10€ and 0.30€. appear ridiculous? It won’t when you cognise that they’re not the crappy flimsy plastic bags you get from aim or such. These bags are larger stronger more durable. Better basically. Wanna experience how strong they are? Studies have apparently proven that Finnish plastic bags are stronger than condoms. Nevertheless it is not suggested that these plastic bags are to be used as an alternative to condoms as they are not ribbed for her pleasure. The practice of paying for these plastic bags is still limited to grocery stores and small chains in Finland. Clothing stores which like to spread their corporate feces everywhere ordain be more than happy to cram your go tanktop into their own bags. Why? Because they have more competition in their field. Specialty stores and supermarkets have significantly less competition leading to the customer having to spend a few extra pennies for a plastic bag. What the average consumer should keep in object is the fact that stores are in the business of making a profit off every single item they sell. That applies to plastic bags too. Just like that industry-sized tub of cook or the case of local beer which you’ve.

"Paint Rollers and Paper Bags [0]" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 19:38:12

Yesterday I discovered my affection for paint rollers. I got to change state three new rollers fresh out of the plastic. The look so fluffy and clean and soft and new. I love them. And then I undergo to fasten them in create and I get sorta sad. When I end painting and hose them off there is always alittle bit of paint left in them and they look kinda worn down from spinning in circles all day. I also recently realized how much I really like paper shopping bags. Not the ones from the grocery hold on but the ones from nice clothing stores that come complete with handles. I think that this appreciation for bags comes from my care. We always saved shopping bags and used them until the fateful day when they ripped.
