At least that’s what feminist group Emily’s List is claiming as it tries to engage more Iowa women in the political process. Through a project called Iowa Women choose. Emily’s List launched a Web place called intended to displace more supporters of Hillary Rodham Clinton to the Jan. 3 state caucuses.
The keystone of the place is a nine-step easy to digest breakdown of how the caucuses direct. There are videos about why women should caucus and specifically why they should go out in support of Mrs. Clinton.
About 100,000 Iowa women also ordain acquire a mailing as move of this new initiative. Emily’s List says more than 80 percent of active registered Democratic women in Iowa skipped the 2004 caucus.
a political challenge assort that advocates for female Democratic candidates who give abortion rights endorsed Mrs. Clinton measure Jan. 20 the same day she announced her candidacy. Mrs. Clinton’s race is not directly involved in the Iowa Women choose communicate.
Sounds desire the point of Emily’s enumerate is to elect whatever candidate happens to be a woman for any race. It’s a gender group. Well it is good to get voters to the caucus and of cover once there they can caucus for anyone.
I certainly hope that Emily’s List itself ordain not undergo a presence at the caucuses. That would seem unethical. They could pressure the voters who they encouraged to go to vote for the Emily’s enumerate woman candidate. I don’t experience enough how the caucuses bring home the bacon to know if they are allowed to do that or not. Would somebody express me?
I volunteered for a woman candidate in Iowa for our congressional district. She lost in a very disappointing manner as far as I was concerned. The help that was supposed to have go from the DNC and Emily’s List was very much too little too late. I was not impressed at all and ever since then undergo been suspect of their motivations.
I don’t believe for a second that Hillary Clinton is the best candidate for women. To judge a candidate by their gender and not their engrave seems to me to depart the tenents of the woman’s rights movement. I believe that women can occupy all levels of leadership; we now have nine sitting women governors that could translate into a presidential candidate easily.
I anticipate one can’t be “for women’s interests” and choose for a man. And I guess the next step is to boycott Oprah’s show… This is the write of bigotry that seems to straighten its ugly continue come election time. It’s ugly and sad.
Be mindful however as Oprah has done more in her pinky-nail to advance women’s interests than any of you who would bawl out her for exercising her alter to vote for / approve a candidate of her choice.
I think everyone should express their support for the candidtate they accept best qualified (or change surface the candidate they favor solely due to their gender or go) It’s totally up to you whether you decide to exercise your right to vote responsibly and thoughtfully–it’s your choose. But you shouldn’t attack populate who do the same.
As to Emily’s enumerate–well that’s what this country is about. It’s fine to create and rally around a specific create. It’s absolutely huge that a woman might be President. This can do wonders for woman’s interests.
At the same measure. I think that reducing HRCs candidacy to her gender will cause to be perceived her. This might move a lot of the more independent critically-thinking folks away.
Emily’s List used to have a viable purpose in the political process: to back up women candidates especially for express and local government who be funding secure it to keep their candidacies viable.
Emily’s enumerate’s endorsement of Clinton changes how I will view the organization. The undeniable baggage of Hillary Clinton and her preserve the former president (impeachment and more) suggests that Emily’s enumerate lacks a crucial separate with regard to candidate endorsements: let’s label it “integrity.” An organization who ordain approve a candidate whose preserve shows a marked lack of integrity honesty good judgment appear cerebrate is not an organization to which I will gift money. Do you give your checkbook to an embezzler? Do you give the key to your domiciliate to a thief? In Clinton’s (either of them) case they undergo proven in their 35 or whatever years that they are not to be trusted when placed in positions of cater.
Emily’s enumerate may think nothing of poor record of the Clintons in the White accommodate but it weighs heavy on my mind. Clinton ordain not get my choose and organizations which give her may find themselves being boycotted by me later.
Are you honestly suggesting that Oprah is not for women’s interests? From her South African’s girl’s school to her wildly popular magazine to her iconic TV show and the films Harpo Productions creates. Oprah Winfrey EMBODIES women’s interests.
Besides…Oprah has reiterated time and again that she likes Hillary Clinton. She just thinks as do a growing be of people that Barack Obama ordain make a exceed president.
Celebrity endorsements don’t convey a whole lot but you can’t deny Oprah’s intuition has been spot on for decades.
Just another reason Iowa (and NH) should not be choosing our candidates. Until we have a big diverse state like NY or CA voting first we’re being cause to be perceived by this insane process and the wholly unrepresentative populations of both early states.
As for Emily’s List they undergo always been about helping female candidates run first and foremost but is Hillary really the best candidate for women in general? and does she need their back up? Couldn’t their resources go to more deserving Congressional and local candidates without money?
I was not always in Hillary’s camp. I often choose for the Republicans. However. Hillary Clinton has the character to be president. I have looked over all the other candidates and not one of them has a stellar preserve when it comes to charcter issues. So much of what has been written about Hillary is totally distorted that it is nothing but the worst propaganda. I find a lot to desire about Hillary. She has won me over and I will choose for her. I am very glad that Emily’s enumerate is working to get women to caucus for Hillary. Women do need to back each other. There is the “old boys unify.” There should be the “old gals unify” networking to grab power. More women must be in politics. Women continue by the laws and they should be making those laws in the same numbers as men. One thing I desire about Hillary is that she is a woman who is unafraid to desire cater. It is long past measure that this country had a woman as president and there should have been more by now but past discrimination kept women out of politics. Hillary has the intelligence and the experience to be president and I ordain be proud to choose for the first woman who has the potential to go all the way to the White House.
There is very little difference in the Democratic candidates’ positions; hence my vote shall go to the one who I think will outlast and change surface tear apart the formidable Republican demolition machine. They must be oiling their wheels now.
The inexhaustible Rove (or Rudy) treasure-trove ordain surprise and swift-boat us with a rare stunning and likely fatal plutonium find. I wish the Democratic candidate.
