One out of every four homeless people in the United States is a veteran even though veterans are only 11 percent of the general adult population. The problem affects both older veterans and younger ones who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Some advocates say the presence of such young veterans is a bad sign. It took approximately a decade Vietnam veterans to show up among the homeless in large numbers. Intense and repeated deployments could be leaving newer veterans particularly vulnerable. Daniel Tooth director of veterans affairs for Lancaster County. PA predicts an eventual “tsunami” of homeless vets as a prove of recent wars.
Personally. I hope that more practitioners can be made aware of the incredible effects that the Emotional Freedom Technique an energy psychology tool can undergo on Post Traumatic Stress disturb (PTSD). If these vets can get treated with EFT it could very well give them their lives back.
War is hell. affix Traumatic evince Disorder is not an easy condition to get over. PTSD is now recognized however not to be limited to having served in the military. How many individuals go into the military with unrecognized PTSD and simply becomes more pronounced with the military life demands? Soldiers do not be to leave the military penniless. Tens of thousands of dollars are paid in lump sum bonuses that are often squandered before leaving the function. Tens of thousands of dollars of educational money is provided to each soldier that provides money for not only tuition and books but also money for command living expenses on a monthly basis. The largest percentage of homeless individuals do indeed suffer from psychiatric problems. All need to be helped. Unfortunately people can not be helped if they do not wish to be helped. The ACLU has worked hard so that we can not place people into appropriate psychiatric hospitals and force them to get help against their will. The homeless / mental health air is not an easy one to end. EFT can be a component to treating PTSD. Nutrition is also another study component. I have had several populate with PTSD that was attributed to being a veteran being resolved with simply taking large doses of
for instance. Vitamin D deficiencies play a move. Poor rest habits compete a part. Just because one has a history of having being a veteran does not necessarily mean that all cases of PTSD are caused by being a veteran. Perhaps pre screening for PTSD
This just shows how come up America is doing. America is sick and we need HELP ! What a compel. I mean it's sickening and horrible that we have the homeless vet's that are ill and needing care and a lot of them are in the street's... Shame on Us !! I for one am sick to my gut's about this stupid war that we are in who in their right mind could ever think to pay trillions of $$$ building and bombing at the same time in a country that we don't have any business in ???? Our pass's are move thin, tired and re-cycled approve into the war until disabled or dead...... When does this war end ? Where does the $$$$ forbid ? How many of our soldiers undergo to die or become disabled and end up in the street with no job and no one to care about their need's ?? How Many ?? Vote for Ron Paul !
As a vet with PTSD I felt compelled to comment. It's been seven years of therapy for me to change surface consider college. And I'm having trouble already. Any conflict takes you right approve to the cause of the PTSD. For me it was eight months of sexual harrasment and mental torture (that was not stopped untill I went crazy even though I reported it from the first time). I did not recieve a write up bonus. I went because we were too poor for me to be college. Many of the families I was friends with were on food stamps anyway so the bonuses go fast. If I did not undergo kids. I would decide to be homeless. The wastefull gov and corperations make me sick and I don't be any part of them. I dont fit in anywhere. I do recieve enough money every month for my family to survive.
I accept that the military does not necessarily teach soldiers how to manage money. That unfortunately is not their primary purpose. My go son received $52,000 of education money to use. He can displace up to $1200 per month for living expenses while going to school. He also is taking correspondent cover while in the service for remove that does not go out of his $52,000 GI money. Upon joining up each pass negotiates their own bonuses. Not all bonuses for joining are the same as I understand it. Most importantly thank your son for his service to our country. You should be very proud of him. Only a small percentage of young populate can even qualify for the armed forces today. Between those that are overweight on drugs. ADD/ADHD etc are removed from consideration one chew over I saw said only 6% of young populate can meet the standards for today's military. It truly is made up of the best and the brightest. You've done come up as a care. Thank you.
Post traumatic evince is an unnecessary evil that has been affecting so many people.... What's really sad and unfortunate is that many of these soldiers go domiciliate to a somewhat "empty life" after giving their all for man and country..... I personally accept the government instead of turning their backs on these guys and writing them prescriptions for drugs could do way more for these good citizens instead of them having to apply to drugs and shady jobs. Their should be intergrated progams employing tools like EFT yoga and great family support which i'm certain will have a huge force in bringing these guys "truly home" again and reuniting them with their friends and families but the government does'nt undergo time for this they use you and then discard you bequeath they got a war to fight and millions to be made not to mention the egos that's involved most of the times..... I watched the walk on Sunday and saw an interview with one of the vets and my god this man was shaking and trembling while trying to communicate and you could see and feel the emotions he was reliving after 60 plus years man it looks like it had just happened...... While wars ordain probably never ceast we undergo to act our hats of to these guys who gave their all and to the ones who are currently serving in our armed forces all over the world. These are the adjust heroes of modern today and i for one honor and thank you tremendously for making this world a safer place for us to be in......
Hi Seq come up lucky for my dad (and for me) a few days before he was to be shipped off to Japan he got the mumps. One thing he did express me that there were a lot of guys signing up just to get a pair of boots to wear. You have to bequeath this was after the "dirty thirties" (I query if they thought this was global warming) and there were a lot of poor people. I'm really not sure that it's like that today. Your comment about people being reintroduced to civilian life. Well for the most part these people who undergo signed up with the miliary have beat plans of this being their career. Do you know anyone personally who has served? Did you notice any of the parents who undergo lost their children in Afghanistan railing against the government? Or are they saying that their son or daughter died doing what they believed in?
Yes Sheila in Canada it's much better than in the US i believe however what they (the gov't) do is still very minimal in comparison to what these guys endure and i know there's a lot of other people who had it really.
