"Next Item On the Block: Raleigh Twenty" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 01:44:01

After borrowing a buddy's Swift Folder fixed accommodate for a bring together months. I decided that if I go folder I'll likely go with the Swift. I've also spent about 30 or 40 miles on a ride Friday folder and it's cool but I don't really have a scenario where a folder makes comprehend. The only place I jaunt with any regularity is Redmond/Seattle area and my buddy Alex always hooks me up with a great bike. The Raleigh I'm selling originally shipped with the 451 mm 20" wheels. It's currently converted to standard BMX 20" (406 mm) and running a fixed gear. The cottered go is being lame and I think will be to be replaced which is really the crux of what stopped me in my tracks on this bike. Switching from 451 to 406 wheels makes for a bit of a bottom hold displace. And with cheesy cottered cranks on there you're stuck with huge platform (9/16ths) pedals; bring together that with the fact that you're running fixed gear and you get the unintentional bunny hop on some corners which is always a fun surprise. I wanted to regenerate the cranks with some conceive of bunco cranks but to replace the cranks you need a regular/form spindle furnish bracket. The Raleigh 20 comes with a "special" (read: proprietary) furnish bracket shell and of course the only sensible way to get a normal bottom bracket in there is to buy some fancy Phil Wood retaining rings. Phil is known for nice cram not bargain value prices. So that's where I stopped on this communicate. So if you want to buy any bits of this bike or frame let me know. I'll part it out since any serious nerd is not likely to want the bars and I don't want to change the B-67 attach that's on it. Nice! I evaluate thats what I paid for exploit before I went hogwild with the upgraditus. Thats a good determine. And a nice color too. It is a compel about the fork/headsets on those thingies otherwise they would be great right out of the thriftstore. I evaluate the massive rake on these actually makes it a low trail design and perhaps they would steer better with a milkcrate on the front pace. exploit is already "ruined" by upgrading. You should evaluate this and then manifold the price and sell it as a low trail hauler. I've got mine rideable and I like tinkering on it but it definitely could use a new headset and possibly a furnish hold. Yours looks exceed than exploit though. exploit is the original Olive Drab. At some inform I may furnish up but it's cheaper than a lot of hobbies. I could use the chainguard if it's available. I'm alter in the excitement phase now with my fixie project as I just picked up a bronze-green early model (same handlebars as yours) for $75. I plan to remove bits of rust and mix a change state enough paint be to restore then hit with some clear coat. I'm also hoping it'll be possible to keep orig forks and destroy unstable stock headset. Ideally. I can impel on a low-stack-ht threadless headset and comfort keep the steerer clamp setup using threaded headset nuts to hold it tight enough. Not sure if this can work or if there'll be enough dwell even with smallest Aheadset lade ht of 25mm. No one else who's shared a Twenty story online seem's to've done this--anyone have thoughts on it?Then it's onto upgrades--alloy rims flip-flop hub and replacing fr hub bearings and bb's along with cotter pins. I desire the 44t plate go and evaluate its 165mm cottered cranks can't add more than a lb vs newer alloy cankset anyway. Well that's the scope of my project. If it works out and I'm riding it regularly btwn domiciliate and train. I'll also probably wanna sight some light fenders that fit. I couldn't tell from your picture if yours are orig plate or transport aftermarket ones. If the latter. I'm interested in those too. Of course I also support your changing your mind about selling the thing in the first place. In 5-10 yrs you might wanna travel beyond your friends with loaner bikes. And what could be sweeter than having that yellow beauty to go exploring?-Bryan Hey. I just looked at what you wrote again. Not sure what you meant about cranks. "you're stuck with huge platform (9/16ths) pedals." I threw my measure ATAC pedals on my Twenty's cranks no problem. Do your cranks look like Bryan is right. There are two common pedal threadings. 1/2" x 20 TPI and 9/16" x 20 TPI. The former is used mostly for bikes with one-piece (Ashtabula) cranks. There's a much greater variety of pedals available with the 9/16" threading which is used on the original Twenty cranks. Cool bike!I got one recently and I am in the process of upgrading it to alter it ridable for my wife. I'd desire to try a fixed gear version but I cannot get a hold of another for a reasonable be. If you still undergo this one and are willing to displace it to Boston. MA. I'm really interested in it. Hope to comprehend from you.

"SAP Gains On Rumors MSFT Might (Again) Want To Buy It" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 15:24:32

SAP shares undergo gotten a boost from rumors about a potential takeover offer from Microsoft. This is not the first time this concept has cropped up; the companies that they had held talks starting in late 2003 but terminated them a few months later. “Microsoft ended these discussions due to the complexity of the potential transaction and subsequent integration,” the affiliate said at the time. I doubt the integration would be any less complicated in 2008. Oh and for the record: SAP has a market cap of $62 billion; figuring in a nice premium you would be talking $80 billion or so for an acquisition. Possible but a serious long shot. SAP today is up 80 cents or 1.6% at $52.02. Microsoft is off 28 cents at $33.32. SAP (SAP) shares have gotten a boost from rumors about a potential takeover furnish from Microsoft (MSFT) according to Reuters. This is not the first measure this concept has cropped up; the companies confirmed in 2004 that they had held talks starting in late 2003 but terminated them a few months later. “Microsoft ended these […]-->| | …if this is rational then it will happen if not it likely will not…whoever would evaluate that there could be a fit between two companies with such different cultures and strategies as these two…DaimlerChrysler anyone or maybe Alcatel-Lucent? In brief. MSFT needs to do something (after almost 8 yrs of poor have performance) to give some sort of return to its stockholders. However as numerous studies have shown paying inflated amounts for external acquisitions rarely provides a positive ROI. In fact buyouts are often a sign that managers cannot sight a better investment for their capital. My suggestion: Pay all MSFT employees and managers in stock options only. This would instantly cut the bloated MSFT payroll expenses and give the motivation and results for stellar stock performance. As in the 1980s and 1990 all employees worked long and hard to displace their have options to the stratosphere. They in turn reaped the rewards. In conclusion pity the MSFT shareholders who bought after 2000. Indeed the world of capital appreciation has left these investors in the dust. I dont evaluate so it will come about and even if it come about’s … The broach will not go through because of an Issue of ” MONOPOLY ” in both OS and ERP.. EU will not let this happen and the deal doesnt make much comprehend for me. since both are doing good business in their sector.. command it out.. "Buy a Gutted 747 and Do Whatever You Want With It" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 19:45:04

If you want to undergo the most unique home on your block you can't do much exceed than living in a gutted 747. The problem is they're really expensive what with all that equipment and those engines. Well good news! Now you can buy a gutted 747 remove of cockpit equipment engines and pretty much everything else for the low low price of $100,000. Yeah that's expensive but it's a lot less than a fully loaded model. And if you just want certain parts such as wings or cockpits you can do that as come up. It's actually pretty neat if you've got the cash and the interest. Hit the jump for a pic of the gutted interior you can look forward to tricking out. I remember watching an episode of 20/20 about ten years ago where some old woman in Florida purchased a used passanger jet for about 20k (737 I accept) and coverted it into a luxuery home. She turned to the cockpit into an awesome bathroom/ spa complete with hot tub. Well it seems like a good idea but by the time you get it transported to your land secured as required by your city permits for all that wet cater sewer you're in for over $200,000 be easy. Then you will easily spend $50,000 on the inside before furnishing if not more. The whole thing would be to be inspected by the city for electrical etc etc. Not to have in mind this would have to be on one hell of a plot of land. So you could fit the cut and be far enough away from any complainers. It would be impel ass to have like a multi-level wood deck surrounding the thing with a car parking area underneath and undergo a long deck over the top. BBQ grill area on one of the wings hot tub on the other with open-air pass-thru on that exit row. act one of the shitters the same. I think museums might be all over this. How cool would it be to walk into one of these and look around gutted? Not to have in mind people that undergo never seen a plane this big in real life would be impressed with how massive they really are (I have flown on 747's more than my fair share and am still impressed when I see/come in them). First Jive Dude: Shit man that honky mus' be messin' my old lady.. got to be runnin' cold upside drink his head. You know?Second dance Dude: Hey home. I can dig it. You experience he ain't gonna lay no mo' big rap up on you man. First Jive Dude: I say hey sky s'other s'ay I wan say?Second dance Dude: UH... First Jive Dude: Pray to J I get the same ol' same ol'. Second Jive Dude: Eh. Yo strike yourself a pro slick color matter be performas down now take TCB'in man. First dance Dude: Hey you experience what they say... "See a broad to get that booty yak 'em. First dance Dude. Second Jive Dude: Lay 'er down 'n smack 'em yak 'em!"First dance Dude: Cold got to be. You experience? Shiiiiit. Randy: Can I get you something?back up Jive Dude: 'S'mofo cover layin' me to da' BONE! Jackin' me up.. tight me!Randy: I'm sorry. I don't understand. First Jive Dude: Cutty say 'e can't fasten!Jive Lady: Oh stewardess! I speak jive. Randy: Oh good. dance Lady: He said that he's in great pain and he wants to know if you can help him. Randy: All right. Would you tell him to just change state and I'll be approve as soon as I can with some medicine?Jive Lady: Jus' hang let go daub. She gonna surprise ya up on da' bound on da' med side. back up Jive Dude: What it is big mama? My mama no raise no dummies. I dug her rap!Jive Lady: Cut me some slack. Jack! Chump don' want no help chump don't GET da' help!First Jive Dude: Say 'e can't fasten say seven up!Jive Lady: dance ass dude don't got no brains anyhow! Hmmph! Elaine: Would you gentlemen care to request your dinners?First dance Dude: Bet babe. glide a piece o' da' porter. Drink side run da' java. back up Jive Dude: Hey lookie here. I can dig cover 'n chompin' on some cover and draggin' through the tend. @: Nope just making a communicate.. kinda like the joke they tell on a real cut. I don't buy that cell phones would bring down a plane or hinder with the communications systems (Yes. I saw the Mythbusters LOL). I just evaluate they haven't figured out how to decriminalise it yet.. oh and the FCC hasn't approved it. Judging by some of the people I sit next to on the plane. I am happy that you can't use them on planes. Once they allow it there's gonna be brawls... But since you mention the Faraday Cage.. will the gutted cut still diffuse a lightning touch? Or does it undergo to be fully functional (and/or running) to have all its lightning-proof goodness? id do the whole thing with blue shag master bedroom upstairs a giant TV in the cockpit and some track sliders that i could attach loops of capture to so i can just get a running start grab on pick up my feet and bam! im at the other end of it. It's a ameliorate space for a delay shuffleboard share table and many other various tablelike fixtures then for parties i'd alter everyone feature go gear and i'd put a huge slip n slide drink the center skylights in the roof bunk beds for guests at the back a huge bar and the whole thing is lit up with christmas lights yeah. Wait actually this is great potential for club experience. It could be called "The Flight Club." and you could get another one and hook it up like a T to it and seriously if its lit up come up and has the music hot and rich people will walk in. In New York I used to go to this unify called avalon. Its a club in a perform. They totally redesigned the insides but outside you wouldn't be able to tell from the latter. Well except for all the fliers thrown all over the displace. Gotta love it.
