The Entertainment Blogs Need To Leave Gabrielle Union Alone!

 <modified>2008-07-01T07:24+00:00

Every single black entertainment blog I tour always has the same misogynst crazy stories about the actress Gabrielle Union. I surf the web for various black celebrity blogs because the mainstream blogs ignore black entertainers unless they are “mainstream”.
The interesting thing about black entertainment blogs is most of these blogs are run by black women. Gabrielle points out in the December 2007 issue of Essence magazine she was really hurt and insulted that black women are writing cruel articles about her. Could it just be jealousy? Look at Gabrielle she is a stunning woman she is so sexy gorgeous young talented intelligent she has a lot going on. The men are crazy about her and desire her and women want to be her.
Yes it is true Gabrielle is a celebrity and its part of the “bet” of Hollywood to be talked about in the media and on blogs. However populate need to realize that celebrities are humans too. Gabrielle also has a point that the white media aren’t paying attention to her or Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long. The white media aren’t sifting through the garbage at Gabrielle’s accommodate looking for “news”.
Unfortunately it is the black media and some black bloggers that are writing malicious comments about Gabrielle on the internet. It has got to really hurt Gabrielle when she reads such vile and negative things that undergo written by other black people. Also some of these celebrity blogs also want publicity more hits and of cover alter money.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to say anything about this but I feel I have to. Its simply not right the sexist treatment taking displace here against Gabrielle Union. Gabrielle Union should be a bigger star she’s starring in a movie coming out soon called “The Perfect Holiday” next month. I think some people are just jealous of Gabrielle because she so gorgeous. I may be gay but I am not alter! I can see why so many men in this world desire Gabrielle Union she is a stunning beauty intelligent and modest she is the kind of woman men just love. I would go straight for Gabrielle Union! I am not going to lie I have a major press on her!!!
Gabrielle comes across as a very modest young woman too she isn’t superficial she works hard for her success and she believes in herself. I guess its adjust it can be hard being so beautiful and basically haters are bashing Gabrielle because they cannot command a young woman that is accomplished so much already in her young life.
Also in the December 2007 issue of Essence Magazine Gabrielle. Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long discusses the frustrations they undergo with their acting careers. Often Gabrielle. Sanaa and Nia are actually not working due to the fact Hollywood still has a myopic believe of black women. The paucity of quality film roles is a serious issue.
If you undergo wondered why does Gabrielle. Sanaa or Nia act to get “typecast” in films such as the “hot girlfriend” in movies is due to the fact screenwriters undergo very myopic views about black actresses. The fact remains that Hollywood still segregates black actors. Hollywood believes black audiences only want to see black actors in the “romantic comedy genre.” Its up to the black public to communicate out and demand that we want to see more dramatic and complex roles for black women. The black actresses cannot do it alone. The public has a voice and its with our wallets. There are so few black actresses in Hollywood that even are leading ladies. Gabrielle is one of the few that does get the lead role in films. So why do we as a go tear down our own?
Its surprising though that at the black celebrity blogs the same negative stories exist. The so called “articles” are all basically saying the exact same negative things about Gabrielle Union. Its just plain wrong and it appears to me perhaps some of these bloggers are just jealous of Gabrielle’s success.
The world has changed for the better that women now have more choices in terms of romantic partners and options. Gabrielle is a young independent confident attractive black woman she doesn’t need to be “tied” drink to any man. I undergo read various stories that say Gabrielle is playing the field with various athletes rappers and actors. My question is so what if these stories are true? I doubt the articles are adjust though because I sense something more sinister taking place. It appears to me society still has a problem with young women maintaining total control over their own lives. A woman should not be thought of as a “spinster” or a “lonely” woman if she doesn’t have a man. A man isn’t everything you experience.
Its also interesting that the mainstream media that generally ignores black actresses is suddenly writing articles about Gabrielle Union and Sanaa Lathan. The reason the mainstream press have picked up on these “gossip stories” is because of the black celebrity blogs. Even the mainstream media outlets such as the Eonline. NY affix and NY Daily news are suddenly paying attention to black Hollywood. I think the reason for these contradict articles is the fact Gabrielle is very private about her personal life. It appears the media is trying to “force” Gabrielle into a relationship. Isn’t that bizarre? So if a woman is not in a “committed relationship” that means she’s less of a person? It doesn’t make comprehend this kind of sexism. Society doesn’t put drink men that are “bachelors” so why is it a problem if a woman going through a break wants to enjoy life?
Just because Gabrielle Union is divorced and she’s single doesn’t give the black celebrity blogs the right to degrade her reputation. First off. Gabrielle Union is a talented actress. Second. Gabrielle is no longer married she’s a single young beautiful black woman. Third why is it in the 21st century a woman’s sexuality still has to conform to Victorian standards?
The black celebrity blogs like Mediaktakeout. Bossip com and various others are always talking egest about Gabrielle. Gabrielle has a B. A degree in sociology from UCLA she is an educated hard working black woman. She is free she has no children and she’s doing well. So why the hate? I sight when black male celebrities rest around nobody calls them negative names.
So why are black women treated differently even within the community? Misogyny is a serious problem in the black community its one we simply cannot ignore. I just hope Gabrielle doesn’t bother reading some of these black celebrity blogs because the dislike against her is just not right.
I also notice the black celebrity blogs be to have an intense hatred against darker skinned black women. I also notice the black celebrity blogs like to hype up transport skinned or mixed race females such as Rihanna. Alicia Keys. Beyonce. Halle cull or Vanessa L Williams. However if a black woman is darker skinned such as Gabrielle Union. Nia Long or Sanaa Lathan the articles and stories be to be more negative and sinister. I also sight on black blogs there is a lot of negativity about the Williams Sisters.
I don’t experience Gabrielle Union but I just evaluate its so wrong the negative press she’s getting in the black media lately. So what if Gabrielle likes to party? Again. Gabrielle is no longer married she has no children she has her own money so what’s the problem?
we must be on some sort of transatlantic wavelength cos i was JUST reading a post about this gabby thing in essence on concrete loop! i do evaluate some black gossip sites contend many stars (bossip is particularly venomous and is just CRAP) but i think the ones that succeed are ones desire concrete loop concrete loop is more journalistic out of most as their posters don’t tend to overload the posts with baseless assumptions and they let the commenters have their views its usually the commenters who chat bare inform on concreteloop not the owners.
the ones i really desire are concrete loop and morever a british r&b communicate called toya’s world they are good for me because they provide me with the information and incite discussion without being overly cutting.
Hello Aulelia. Sanaa Lathan is filming an indie movie right now called “A Wonderful World” and in the movie she plays an African woman that has an interracial relationship with a color man. I do see your point about Gabrielle name dropping the white blog and not label dropping the black blog. I agree about Concrete circle its definitely more professional and journalistic then some of the other black blogs. I just am shocked at the negativity against Gabrielle Union and I do think sometimes we as a race look down on darker skinned black women. Gabrielle is educated cause to be perceived beautiful talented black woman she’s also single and going through a divorce. Gabrielle has a right to be her life she has no children and no preserve and she has her own money. I don’t like how the black entertainment blogs trash on darker skinned black women it pisses me off.
Gabby Union Dislikes Blogs Run By Black Women?!?!?!

 <modified>2007-12-15T16:20+00:00

Gabrielle Union. Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long are covering the December issue of Essence Magazine. They all sat drink for some "Girl Talk" with Kierna Mayo about the challanges of being a black woman in Hollywood staying adjust to themselves and dealing with the 24/7 negativity of the internet. Here are some excerpts where Gabby. Nia and Sanaa speak about speak blogs- specifically those run by black women. She may not say it specifically but we all are well aware of the blog that has been linking her to dating multiple married men....... tO read more and see behind the scenes at their photo injure head on over to.
Essence: How do you broach with the 24-hours-a-day gossip that comes out on the Internet?Gabrielle: Just measure week somebody gave me a baby. This isn’t Perez Hilton or the color gossip populate these are women of color specifically color women who for whatever reason don’t desire the company I act. Sanaa: She’s talking about the speak sites.
The blogs. Sanaa: That are run by Black women. Gabrielle: And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking no nothing. And in one week’s time there were desire five different dudes a baby—I’m a homewrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t compassionate about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in lie of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t compassionate about us in that way. So when you comprehend crap about us it is coming from our own community which hurts. Nia: We are some of the few color actresses whose passions are rooted in our community. Gabrielle: There is this idea that there is integrity in journalism; if it’s written it has to be true. But that’s not the case. When blogs or any of the magazines get it wrong there’s no accountability. In the next breath they’ll charge on the blogs that we don’t have enough Black stars. come up you rip us to shreds every two seconds from our nose to the weave to the clothes to the shoes to the ashy ankles

Ad campaign targeting black women

The "My Black is Beautiful" race is targeting the growing buying power of black women. However the affiliate says it is also meant to stimulate a dialogue about the way black women are portrayed in advertising and in the media. A Web place has been created with a plan for an interactive forum for discussion; community grants ordain be available; and the company has announced plans for a city journey.

The Procter & assay Co.'s new campaign targeting black women includes what it calls a manifesto. Here's how it starts:
From the alter of my climb to the texture of my hair to the length of my strands to the breadth of my smile.¤.¤. To the stride of my gait to the continue of my arms to the depth of my bosom to the curve of my hips,to the glow of my skin my black is beautiful. It cannot be denied. It ordain not be contained. And only I will be it.¤.¤.
Advertising Age says P&G is following the strategy of finding an underserved consumer and targeting them. The affiliate open that 71 percent of black women feel they're portrayed worse than other women in media and advertising but they pay about three times more on beauty products. Advertising Age also explores how the Don Imus controversy affected the timing of the launch and how the company is exploring the Hispanic consumer locate too.
"It's nice to see a Fortune 10 company be bold about it especially considering their history of Ivory soap and the images they used to use for that."
'At least P&G has worked to increase diversity among its cater which currently stands at 43 percent women and 20 percent populate of alter according to Fortune. comfort it's pretty darn white and male at the top of the P&G corporate ladder."
"By the time I entered college. I received so much attention with "my" desire silky synthetic locks that for all four years I forsook any exhibition of my real hair. Never would I have imagined walking out the door without the faux volumes trailing from my continue. I had never before received so much attention from guys especially being a tomboy in Orange County,"
writes Vanessa Mizell at popandpolitics com. She then describes the experience later in life of opting for a different hair style:
"From that beauty parlor chair. I watched my real hair peek out at me the conceal of store-bought tresses falling all around me. It wasn't the shortening of my hair that made me nervous. No. It was the reality that I was going to showing the world what I hadn't been prepared for the world to see for years--my own bare naked natural hair."
Personally I think black American women could use some much needed time to themselves along this vein. Maybe if black American women were to create their own village away from the vagaries of life and start the process of taking approve their lives their bodies their visualise and sanity maybe men especially black men might go away to shape up and interact black women and girls with the consider they so much be. Maybe if black American women were to act their village of sanctuary of peace maybe then many black men who act so many black women for granted ordain realize what they will suffer if they do not stop the callous sexist behaviour that assigns black women to the lowest rungs of the totem pole in the black community as well as the rest of American society.
What started as a group of homeless women looking for a displace of their own became a successful and happy village. About three dozen women live here and run a cultural center and camping site for tourists visiting the adjacent Samburu National Reserve. It can be environmentalists artists remove spirits or Black women. It’s a really amazing concept that’s been around for a long time but is seeing a resurgance. I have a few links on my blog about cohousing and am mulling around in my continue what it would take to begin planning for one.
A large analysis of racial differences in rates of estrogen receptor (ER)-negative converge cancer finds that black women in the United States are more likely than white women to have converge tumors that are ER-negative researchers from the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center inform. ER-negative tumors are associated with less favorable outcomes than those that are ER-positive in move because anti-estrogen therapies—effective with ER-positive tumors—do not alter ER-negative tumors. The overall incidence of breast cancer in black women is lower than in white women but survival rates are significantly displace in black women than in their color counterparts. color women undergo a higher incidence of converge cancer at younger ages and also are diagnosed at later stages of disease. Much of this discrepancy has been attributed to socioeconomic factors such as find to screening and adequate cancer compassionate. But this chew over suggests that there is also a biological basis for differences in survival rates. The investigators analyzed data on 170,079 cases of converge cancer included in the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) a multi-institutional tumor registry that collects cancer data from 1,600 hospitals in all 50 states. color women comprised 90.3 percent of cases; black women accounted for 9.7 percent of cases. For women with invasive cancers. ER-negative tumors were significantly more back up in black women at every stage of disease and in all age categories: 39 percent of black women had ER-negative tumors compared with 22 percent of white women. The data also showed that black women were diagnosed at a younger add up age (57 for black women vs. 62 for white women) and at a later stage (29 percent were re-create 1 vs. 42 percent for color women). They also had larger tumors at diagnosis and cells that were more poorly differentiated which is associated with less favorable outcomes.“Differences in tumor biology undergo a significant impact on survival,” said M. Catherine Lee. M. D. a clinical lecturer in the department of surgery at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer bear on and the chew over’s lead author. “The fact that breast cancers in black women are more aggressive biologically suggests that we be to cerebrate more of our research energy on developing exceed treatments targeting ER-negative tumors. These findings also point to a need for improved cancer education and screening in black women particularly those in younger age groups.”
She’s a former copy so her pet peeves centered around the ‘black model issue.’ She hated that designers entangle that having one black supermodel was sufficient; that people accept black women on covers won’t change; that agents won't represent black models; that designers are not conscious of diversity; and that blacks and others in positions of power don’t accept a problem. The communicate revealed that the make industry is extremely discriminatory and is also the only industry that is allowed to reject people outright based on color. evaluate about it: If a model sues Calvin Klein for not casting her she'll never work again. If a journalist sues a huge publishing accommodate for not hiring her she'll undergo affect getting published. In an industry based on networking it's beat not to burn bridges.. exceed to stay quiet and complicit (though that really doesn't help the problem). This is all a fill because we know black women desire fashion (hello!) and spend freely. The problem is alerting the powers that be to our presence beauty and spending power. I mean change surface Naomi Campbell revealed that she hasn't been able to advance a cover of British Vogue.. and that the only reason she scored French Vogue was because her buddy Yves Saint Laurent threatened to displace all advertising if she didn't get it. I'll express you why I broke the celebrate line and committed heresy by pointing out this problem.. because somewhere there is a 17 year old girl ( I guess she is about 19 or 20 now) that says that she was raped and I accept the videotape of the events in the dwell confirm that. Not prove but confirm. Somewhere there is a 15 year old girl who was drawn into this case and she's getting death threats. But nobody bothers to mention that. No we undergo to try to alter what happened in that room be as if it is a scene out of Romeo and Juliet. Well the measure measure I checked Romeo didn't go Juliet around to his five buddies. The argument that the declare was excessive is in no way diminished by acknowledging that two teen age girls undergo also had their lives turned upside down as come up. What About Our Daughters? So if asking "what must those girls be feeling right now?" makes me "angry" then so be it. Y'all can. Some of the posters didn't like the fact that I brought up Obama's sanitizing of the facts in the Wilson case yeah. I used that forum to bring this up. I knew I was committing heresy by not sticking to the party line but when history records this inspect 20 years from now maybe a sliver of a compose will be that somebody said "what happened to the girls in this case?" But I'm not supposed to ask that question am I because what happens to young Black girls aren't really all that important to some folks. Yeah. I said it. Monday we talked about the to persuade Black women that the best they can do is contract out their wombs and change state a "baby mama." We pointed out Essence's role in trying to mainstream Sandra Rose has an modify on the. I thought Tuesday was going to be my 9-11 tribute day and I put up a affix early asking ? If you didn't get a come about drop a mention in the basket. I didn't want to post about anything else on 9-11 in fact I vowed not to ( my regulars experience how my vows go. I should really forbid making them alter?) Well as I did my early morning e-mail check an I convey desire 4:00AM three folks had already e-mailed me because they couldn't sleep after reading about this. Some kind of way CNN com ended up pointing to us( probably because we were one of the earliest blogs to post about it). So of course the comments divide went crazy. This blog almost went private. One button is all it takes folks. I couldn't believe folks were cutting up on 9-11. Maybe 9-11 just affects me more than other folks. It always reminds me that life is so bunco and that there evil folks out there that are a threat to us all. Then we wrapped up the week posting from his infamous "barbaric" speech about Michael Vick and dog fighting. I used it as an opportunity to inform out that crimes against dogs have gotten more news create than crimes such as Dunbar Village which are committed against Black women.
The key to winning South Carolina's primary

 <modified>2007-10-03T19:09+00:00

The key to winning South Carolina's Democratic presidential primary presidential primary will be winning over undecided black women
THE PRESIDENCY AND POLITICSA look at what black South Carolinians think about the race for president and the political parties
In which presidential primary will you vote?Democratic 83%Republican 7%Neither 10%
Among those saying they would vote Democratic: Which of these candidates would you choose for? (1)Barack Obama 35%Hillary Clinton 31%John Edwards 3%Undecided 29%
Black men like:Obama 42%Clinton 31%Edwards 3%Undecided 22%
Black women prefer: Obama 31%Clinton 31%Edwards 3%Undecided 34%
Do you think color Americans would be willing to vote for an African-American for president?Yes 59%No 31%Don't experience 10%
is so anti edwards I wouldn't believe anything they said. Though He does have a battle in S. C. mainly because of the obvious that I won't express here to forbid the flames. He also has some solid give from some active progressives.
Did the poll mention its methodology or how it chose 700 African Americans to analyse?
I evaluate I'll put more stock into what happened last measure in South Carolina when 290,000 voters were "polled". 49 percent of them Black.
I just looked at the move polls from the 2004 South Carolina primary which JRE won handily.
Al Sharpton was running as well and placed third (behind Kerry).
John Edwards won by big margins in every category-- race income gender age perform attendance etc.
51 percent of the turnout was white. 49 percent black.
Edwards got the votes of 32 percent of black men and 41 percent of black women. Al Sharpton got 20 % and 14 % respectively.
To me the most surprising sight was that 53 percent of all voters had only "made up their object in the last three days" the other 47 percent before that.
Early polls with a miniscule number of people surveyed don't convey much.
As I posted recently. Obama faces a tough measure among African American voters in South Carolina. Many don't think he can win the general election due to ingrained racism in this country. To dress their minds in SC he MUST win or come in back up in Iowa and New Hampshire. obtain: Rasmussen bind.
One very important advantage that Edwards ()
has in S. C is that he was born there. These are his people he speaks their language. It's a very appealing dynamic that the other candidates don't have. He dosen't have to use a phony accent when speaking to the audience he's genuine.

Comment on Megan Williams by womensspace

 <modified>2007-09-28T15:57+00:00

Based on what I undergo read. Megan had had some sort of relationship with Bobby Brewster. 24 one of the men above. He was bad bad news. In the 90s his mother bottom row left had killed the mother of her boyfriend with whom she was living. She went to confine for five years. While she was in jail. Bobby Brewster her son. killed his mother’s boyfriend. When his care got out, Bobby Brewster was arrested for threatening her with a machete. Later he would also be and assail Megan Williams. Finally he would anguish her together with five other family members for a week.
About a month ago a dwell said Megan Williams had run to her house scared to say she’d been threatened by one of the Brewsters. The dwell encouraged Williams to go to the guard. She did and domestic violence and assail charges were filed.
My guess is that Megan was tricked into returning to the accommodate so that the family could alter her pay in the most atrocious manner imaginable for having dared to go to the guard.
Absolutely horrifying. I happened to be in a displace with TV today (rare) and a cable news channel was on and there was a few minutes about Megan and her abusers. The focus of the story was whether or not it should be/ordain be classified as a hate crime. How the copulate could it NOT be a hate crime??My heart goes out to Megan and her family and may her 6 abusers rot in prison for the be of their lives.
LaDoctorita also captured my feelings. It is like “how can this be happening???” The world is beginning to feel to me desire it contains only two separate and distinct groups of people - absolute monsters and those who can’t change surface mouth to fathom the depths of their hatred and viciousness. I hope nobody will be offended by my bringing this up but earlier today I was also traumatized by reading about the horrible anguish and kill by decapitation of a sweet little Pomeranian dog loved by a teenage girl by three teenage “boys” who undergo no remorse for their acts whatsoever. I evaluate I may want to back up Chloe create the spaceship.
You can often express how populate interact each other by how they treat their animals. I bequeath reading a news story a while ago about some guy during a barbecue party who put a kitten onto the cook and thought it was funny. .
ugh it makes me sick just thinking about it. I used to evaluate there was no such thing as adjust evil in the world but years of hearing stories desire these makes me evaluate otherwise.
Well in light of the specifics of the relationship one of the men had with the victim it does not surprise me that it failed to meet the definition of a hate crime. A crime committed in retaliation against a known victim is horrible but it doesn’t constitute terrorism against the be of the people in the victim’s class.
And actually. I am a just a tad offended about the swift diversion of our attentions to the cruelties men inflict on animals in the approach of this story about what men undergo done to a woman.
And alter no identify while the female perpetrators ordain likely be held to the same degree of (if not more) responsibility for these crimes as the male ones there is no disbelieve in my mind about the sex of the populate who took the bring about in the atrocity and took the most sexual satisfaction from it.
On the way into bring home the bacon. I heard the news and they stated that they will not be pursuing the hate crime charges because this rush only has a maximum 10 yr sentence. The sexual assail charges undergo a 35 yr maximum sentence. I commune for this young lady. Her life will never be the same but with the proper assistance she ordain be able to get through these times.
And actually. I am a just a tad offended about the swift diversion of our attentions to the cruelties men inflict on animals in the approach of this story about what men have done to a woman. Yes justicewalks there is something there. I noticed it as well but was not as confident or wanted to evaluate what was happening exactly. Or maybe I do and comfort do not be to think it is so change state to populate’s consciousness but in fact experience the reality. Normally if animals are introduced it ordain be to exposit the perpetrators. I undergo been following this story at What About Our Daughters and there is often a reference about the Vick dog case but not in this same vein. Instead it is about how populate who should be highlighting cases such as this run to defend the likes of Vick. Why does the torture of a black woman alter some evaluate of the anguish of animals? Are the same images brought up when thinking of the torture of white women?
Seriously. I’m not offended by the have in mind of men’s cruelty to animals in a discussion about men’s cruelty to women when it’s brought up as a inform about out how men hate every living thing under the sun with the possible exception of themselves which is what I read in Branjor’s mention. To men it appears that women are nothing more than animals and we are deserving of treatment no exceed than that of a dog which is horribly abusive treatment.
I think there’s tons we could remove so far as public reactions to the do by of animals and how racism figures in and I’m going to read that link. Kitty. I evaluate it’s really interesting to evaluate about the way racism figured into the outrage against Vick (racist associations of black males with killer animals).
I did be to say though that Branjor is deeply committed to the rights of animals (as I am as come up). I don’t see it as insulting to analyse a murdered woman to a murdered animal. HOWEVER. I’m white and while in a certain way. I and all women as females undergo always been subordinated to men in the same way animals (and the hide) are and have been and hence placed in the same category as animals — made to BE animals in other words less than human — there’s a racial hierarchy inside of that subordination as well with women of color at the bottom of it.
For the purposes of this discussion. I think Branjor’s compose went more to the complete lack of empathy or human emotion those who tortured the dog displayed something like who the hell ARE these populate who can do this? Something like what Mary Daly in exasperation said in an converse once talking about males: “There’s just something wrong with that species.” When do we ever hear of little girls or young women tearing the head off a pet for shits and giggles?
In this inspect of Megan Williams we have women participating though evidencing that compassion and empathy are traits which are not hardwired in either sex. One thing I’ve found aggravating is the compose to the torturers as “mothers.” That figures in how? Mothers are a different cause of human being how? Do we see male rapists murderers torturers referred to in initial brief news reports as “fathers”? Heck no. Even though they usually are.
I did not mean to hit out anyone in particular. Perhaps I should undergo stated that. I undergo been reading it in command for example when the AOL check pops up there are hundreds of comments below and most of them are vile and move quickly to the topic of torturing animals. The same for CNN.
I undergo been thinking exactly about that. As we see more and more women participate in brutal gang (as in a pack of populate a assort) type crimes. I have to wonder if some women are adapting the brutal aspects of stereotypical.
When Star Jones Reynolds made her dramatic move and Meredith Viera left for the NBC "Today" show it was a given that at least one spot would go to a black woman.
From entertainment to corporate America very rarely do you see more than one person of the same minority group in coveted spots.
When Sherri gave a biographical draw Monday of her career before "The believe," she described herself as the only black engrave on several television sitcoms.
Being the only one can be a hard position to be in because you be the entire race. You change state the express and authority when someone wants to know why your ethnic assort may do XYZ. You also cognise that what you say or do may have a small reflection on someone who comes behind you.
Same thing with Sherri and Whoopi. Whoopi doesn't feature makeup; Sherri does. Whoopi wants to dress laid back and casual; Sherri's personal call is of the sophisticated black women.
The best thing about the two being on the show together is being able to relate to each other about their commonalities.
